Back and Better than Ever!
Hundreds of people from the architecture and design community visited showrooms
across London at the end of September 2008 as Designers Saturday returned
to the capital for the first time in 20 years.
Eleven of the leading workplace design companies participated by throwing open the doors of their showrooms over the two day event (Friday and Saturday, September 26th and 27th) to reveal a fun and learning environment for designers and architects and their families.
Each showroom had its own theme for the event exploring everything from environmentally design to the latest office technology as well as new product ranges, one off exhibits and workshops with industry experts. Visitors were transported around the showrooms by Designers Saturday branded mini buses and rickshaws whilst a roving ice-cream van was never far away with free treats.
And there was a more serious side of the event with visitors being able to rack up a number of RIBA CPD points and hours by attending accredited presentations with themes as far reaching as workplaces for older people, ergonomics, acoustic comfort, the role of RFID in the new office environment and even global warming.
