18 August 2008: Humanscale's new London showroom on Northburgh Street, which has doubled in size to accommodate the company's growing product selection and overall growth in sales internationally, will be one of the sites highlighted by this month's Designers Saturday showcase.
Humanscale products are based on the belief that when design solves a functional problem as simply and elegantly as possible, the resulting form will be honest and timeless. In assessing "How healthy is your desk?" - Humanscale's theme for Designers Saturday - one should look for solutions to improve health, efficiency and quality of work life. Mock workstations, video displays, on-hand staff, and featured lectures will help visitors to determine proper placement of work tools as well as learn about current regulations and implications for office furniture and office layouts.
The new Northburgh Street showroom will also feature compelling wall graphics to help tell the story behind and benefits of each design. New products, including the award winning Cinto chair, Diffrient Work Light II, and NeatLinks cable management device, will be on display, along with Humanscale's lauded Liberty and Freedom seating, monitor arms, and other leading ergonomic office products.
Following a 2007 year-over-year sales increase of 23.4%, Humanscale Founder and CEO Bob King says, "Our success in 2007 was driven by a combination of well-received new product launches, growth within existing markets, and expansion into new markets, namely healthcare and hospitality." During this time the company introduced the new Liberty Side Chair, CPU600 CPU holder, and Access Rail, and received 19 prestigious design awards, including the Product Design of the Year Award from the International Design Awards, two best of IIDEX/NeoCon Canada Gold Awards, and a pair of GOOD DESIGN Awards.
With an ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, Humanscale continually strives to design, engineer and manufacture products that weigh less, requiring less raw material; use fewer parts and manufacturing processes; contain a high percentage of recycled content; and contain a high percentage of recyclable content.
