20 August 2008: PearsonLloyd has been chosen by Designers Saturday to create an iconic poster for the event, continuing a tradition started at the original Designers Saturday events in the '70s and '80s. The design will be unveiled at the event on 26 and 27 September.
The Designers Saturday poster became a regular feature of the event, which first took place in London in the late '70s. Each year saw a leading designer create a new, individual look and many of these designs are now collector's items. When the event was resurrected for 2008, the 11 participants felt that the poster was a core element to its success.
The original posters were designed by names such as Patrick Hughes, the surrealist painter and printmaker (1983), and Alan Fletcher, one of the most influential figures in British graphic design (1982).
"It was great to hear that Designers Saturday would once again be a feature on the design calender and we were delighted to be asked to create this poster for the event," commented Luke Pearson, PearsonLloyd. "The 11 particpants are among the biggest names in workplace design and have all been hugely influential on how the industry has developed. We are very much looking forward to seeing what they have in store in September."
The posters will be given to those attendees who visit all the participant showrooms on 26 and 27 September, with some exciting limited edition versions reserved for VIPs.
Designers Saturday is taking place on 26 and 27 September and will see the world's largest furniture manufacturers opening their showrooms to the design communities. The participating companies are Ahrend, Bisley, Faram, Haworth, Herman Miller, Humanscale, KI, Kinnarps, Knoll, Sedus and Steelcase.
