Steelcase embraced their 'Meet the Millenials' theme with gusto – just like any good Millennial would!
Steelcase teamed up with award-winning studio Pearson Lloyd to transform the Farringdon Road WorkLife into a Glastonbury-style 'Festival of the Future' complete with tents, grass and henna painters. The Festival was designed to reflected the needs and aspirations of the tech-savvy Millenials (those born after 1981) as they start to enter the workplace. Each tent housed a fascinating, futuristic work concept such as the WalkStation, which allows staff to walk-and-work at the same time and – for the first time in the UK – the Instant Meeting table. Hooked up to a plasma screen, the IMT is designed to make meetings instantly easier by allowing up to three participants to connect their laptops to the shared TV screen and to then flash up whatever is on their individual computer screen, creating a much more fluid meeting experience. The grassed over areas of the showroom played host to Steelcase’s popular B Free furniture range. B Free is a collection seven simple elements designed to create focal points where people and ideas come together , fitting in perfectly with the Millenial preference for informal working. The WorkLife basement was also revamped for Designers Saturday with a selection of new products including Steelcase’s latest storage products, Lateral and Latitude.
Steelcase's Senior Workplace consultant Zoe Humphries was also on hand to give a CPD-accredited talk on the intriguing subject of the four different generations currently inhabiting the office, from recent Millenial graduates through to late-retiring Traditionals. All of this was topped off with fabulous festival-themed food and drink (including specially mixed 'Millenial' cocktails), on-the-spot art wall, DJ and storyteller for younger guests.
